What operating system is right for your laptop?

Do rugged laptops make any difference?

For regular laptops there is a constant battle between Mac users and Windows users! Every part thinks that their operating system is the best ever.

Mac users accuse Windows as being not intuitive and unstable, while Windows users say Mac is not cheap at all and you can not find easily third party devices that work with a Mac.

Well, they may be right, both sides! Some previous versions of Windows used to crash more often, but now the latest versions became more and more stable.

Macs indeed are more expensive but at the same time it is considered that Mac is easier to use for novice users.

You should really think what is more convenient for you? Stability? Price? Easiness to use? Do you use a lot of third party devices, you use a lot of software programs? Do they come for Mac too? Or for Windows?

If you need to use your laptop as a desktop computer too, and then turn it back to a mobile status, for example if you are a business man that needs to use computing at home and at the office but then go to work on the field, you should really use Windows compatible laptops, Macs don’t offer this opportunity.

OK, how about rugged laptops O.S.?

Rugged laptops are professional systems run by people that usually use specialized applications in situations where failure is not an option.

For rugged laptops and notebooks, operating systems count Microsoft Windows , Solaris , Linux and even Unix. Remember you are dealing with people that run specialized applications, not wide used ones. Easiness of use is not the first criteria that comes to my mind when it comes to rugged laptops.

Operating systems for rugged notebooks and laptops should be chosen after considering the availability of applications you need to run on it and also compatibility with other rugged systems you may have(rugged PDA, rugged Palms, etc).
