How to choose the right processor for your laptop computer
Also know as CPU
CPU stands for central processing unit. The processor is the main part of your laptop. Shortly speaking, it gives the power of your computer. Theoretically speaking, this should be the idea. Practically speaking, the CPU frequency is not the only parameter you should consider when buying a laptop.
Anyway, the technology on this market of CPU is a permanent subject to change, what was yesterday's top processor is already outdated today. So, if you want it from me, don't make such a big financial effort to buy the latest and most powerful laptop processor on the market: it will probably be very expensive and they will soon be left behind.
Instead, go with a good processor that is not necessarily the latest one, but that will give you enough power to have your job done.
Major players on the computer processor market
We could speak about a few names on the processor market: Intel , AMD and why not, VIA, etc.
But the two main ones, Intel and AMD rule the game.
If you want to buy a laptop that is equipped with a processor with a name that guarantees quality, stability and power, go with Intel. The only issue would be the price, Intel processors are a bit more expensive. But they bring the brand name!
If you want a processor with power, for a lower price but with good quality, go with AMD.
Both manufacturers provided high end and low end processors, such as Intel's Pentium and Celeron and AMD's Athlon and Duron. I come with the same advice: think of what you intend to use. If you only use your laptop for reading emails, surf the net or write documents, you don't need to spend extra money on high end processors, the low end ones will do the trick.
However, multimedia applications or graphic applications Adobe Photoshop for example will require a good processor, so if you know you will use applications that require resources, go with a high end processor.
Note: Also think M. Think “ Mobile “. Both processor manufacturers provided mobile versions of their processors for laptop computers. These “ Mobile ” processors have a low power consumption, they are optimized for battery usage, so you should also consider this factor when choosing a laptop processor.
