Friday Intel announced they will join One Laptop Per Child

Well, that is right, seems that Friday, Intel joined One Laptop Per Child organization, as they said, to "explore collaborations involving technology and educational content".

That is one of the very good news, in my opinion, since Intel is a true force in this world of computers and having Intel on your side gives you an unbeatable strength.

Just to refresh your memory, let me remind you a bit about OLPC: The organization has the target of providing low cost laptops to people all over the world, but mostly in poor countries, where they could not afford a normal computer. These laptops will be rugged, Linux based and very energy efficient, with internet connectivity through mesh networking.

"Joining OLPC is a further example of our commitment to education over the last 20 years and our belief in the role of technology in bringing the opportunities of the 21st century to children around the world, " said Paul Otellini, Intel CEO.
