The new fully rugged PDA GETAC PS535E announced in the United States

One of the things I like to do is watch Getac new products. Why is that? Because all their rugged laptops gave me such a good impression that I really enjoy every nw product they release. For ex, these days GETAC released a new fully rugged PDA, named GETAC PS535E. For the moment it is only announced in US, but we'll just wait and see...

What this fully rugged PDA brings new?

The fully rugged PS5335E handheld PDA is actually a combination of a GPS and PDA device that not only performs well, but also protects the user’s data while on field. It also features a 3.5-inch transflective sunlight readable display.

The connectivity features of GETAC’s PS535E PDA include Wi-Fi, embedded GPS and Bluetooth. Another salient feature is its battery life of 8 hours.

With a case measuring 5.7 x 3.3 x 1.2 inches, the PS535E is not notably larger than other PDAs, nor is its 10.6 ounce weight overly hefty. Nonetheless, the device apparently incorporates effective shock mounting, since it can withstand up to 2,000 1.6-foot drops without harm, according to Getac.

The PS535 is rated to meet MIL-STD-801F standards, including the method 516.5 test for shock resistance, and method 514.5 for vibration resistance. It also meets IEC-529 standards for water and dust resistance, Getac says.

Inside its tough shell, the PS535 is a standard Windows Mobile 5 Professional PDA, with such typical features as Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, PowerPoint Mobile, and Internet Explorer Mobile. It has a "sunlight-readable" 3.5-inch QVGA touchscreen display.
