Army computers, rugged laptops under fire
Rugged laptops are one of the most important part of military logistic systems. They provide one of those critical things that keep the army organized: communication. Logistic system of a military group is based on a lot of rugged laptops that cover the whole operational field. But communication between soldiers and between soldiers and a central commanding point is not the only thing that rugged laptops do on the battlefield.
Rugged laptops are very important in providing information about the real situation of the battlefield, increasing soldiers situational awareness. For example, Panasonic Toughbook notebooks enable soldiers to view data in real time, data that can be sent back to his commander, his staff, and the rest of the soldiers on the ground, as part of the Force XXI Battle Command, Brigade-and-Below (FBCB2) program.
This application provides graphical situational maps to soldiers on the field, with not only the enemy locations, but also with locations where soldiers using the application could hide and take cover.
Situational awareness also leads to a better identification of the target. For ex Toughbook 29 and Toughbook 18 ruggedized notebook computers are out in the field providing information about hot spots that need to be hit, so soldiers could rely on the information that their rugged laptops along with the application provide.
