Dell to trigger deletion of data from stolen laptops over the internet

dell laptopsNow, this is good, indeed. Dell says that they joined the already long list of computer makers that will offer this service to their customers. Data show that approx. 12.000 laptops are lost in US airports during one week time. If we do the math, 12000 per week means 48000 per month, means 576000 laptops stolen or lost over one year. It’s a lot, in my opinion…

This service that Dell is going to offer will delete sensitive files on the hard disk of the stolen laptop the first time it will connect to the internet. The service will be provided by Absolute Software Corp. and it will cost less that $100 for 3 years of service.

The list of companies that joined forces with Absolute Software Corp. contains Hewlett-Packard Co., Lenovo, Panasonic, Fujitsu Ltd. and Toshiba Corp. so Dell should get into the game fast to not lose in front of their competition.

Nice change up on the website design. I gave you some link juice today. I think most of your old links to Rugged Notebooks Blog are dead.

What is the platform you are using for this website?

    Thanks

PS - I see it is a wordpress theme. Much easier to handle, yes?

Hi, there, Michael!Nice to have you here again ;-)
Yes, it is a WordPress theme, much easier to handle, indeed, even if the “old” site was based on a CMS developed by myself and I knew every bit of it. I have decided to go for the WordPress solution and try to give a new life to this website since I had no time for it in the past and now I would like to make it work.

Why do you say that most of the old links are dead? The “old” site is still there for Google compatibility reasons, nothing changed, just that it is not visible and in time this area will become more visible and visited.

Thanks for the link juice ;-)
