A rugged work for a laptops site

Monday, September 10th, 2007

When I have started this website I had other things in mind. I wanted to have it developed like a guide to laptops. Commercial laptops, I mean, not rugged. But after a while when I got no traffic I decided to modify it a bit and have it feature rugged notebooks and laptops and any other industrial computer components, etc.

I have reoriented this site to rugged notebooks and laptops. This way, by using a niche, it is easier to attract an audience. However, I never find enough time to administrate this website the way I would like, this is one of the main problems I have about it. I never find time to manage it.

I would like to post more about reviews and stuff, but it needs research and keeping a close contact with the industry in a way that is a bit difficult for somebody who does not have enough time.

I am doing the best I can to find information and stay in touch. My site started to get well indexed for some particular searches and G feeds me visitors for all kind of criteria form this laptop industry. However the site didn’t yet started to work. I still need to work on it for a while but maybe with your help, I will make it work.

How about a cheap rugged notebook? Have a Systemax Vigor!

Monday, September 10th, 2007

How important is the price when it comes to a rugged notebook? I know that we all appreciate a rugged notebook by other standards than the price but let’s face it: a rugged notebook is not cheap and not everybody afford buying one. If we think at Panasonic Toughbook, we say $2500, but when you just want a rugged notebook on budget, how about paying $999. Yep, that is the price for a Systemax Vigor. Here are the features for it:

Below are the specs for the $999 Vigor model:

  • Intel Celeron M370 Processor (1.5GHz/400FSB/1M)
  • 40GB Ultra ATA 4200RPM Notebook Hard-Drive
  • 256MB of RAM (PC4200 DDR2 533MHz SODIMM (256MB x 1))
  • Intel Integrated Graphics
  • DVD RW optical drive
  • One IEEE 1394 Firewire port
  • Two high-speed USB 2.0 ports
  • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition w/ Phoenix Recovery
  • One-Year Warranty

Systemax Vigor

I would say that for those of us needing a rugged laptop without having the money for an expensive one, this one does just the job for a priceĀ  of a normal, commercial laptop. I’d say that it is worth buying it, how about you?
